Stepping Stones Day Nursery
Stepping Stones Nursery is set within a characterful building that offers unique, stimulating spaces where children can play, learn, and thrive. The nursery is thoughtfully divided into three age-specific areas, each designed to meet the developmental needs of the children in our care.

Baby Room (0-24 months)
Our Baby Room provides a calm, nurturing environment for babies from birth to 24 months and includes a separate sleep room. We work closely with parents to follow each child’s individual routine as closely as possible.
The room offers ample space for babies at all stages of development, from those beginning to crawl to confident walkers. Carefully selected equipment and resources encourage exploration and support physical development, helping babies build confidence and independence in a safe and supportive setting.

Toddler Room (2-3 years)
From the age of two, children move into our Toddler Room, where their curiosity and independence continue to flourish. Here, children are encouraged to explore, make choices, and follow their interests.
A separate messy play room allows children to experiment with creative and malleable materials, supporting sensory exploration and self-expression. Our highly trained practitioners carefully support each child, providing appropriate resources and guidance to help them develop decision-making skills and confidence.

Pre-School Learning Centre (3-5 years)
At three years old, children progress to our Pre-School Learning Centre. The focus in this room is on developing independence, confidence, and key skills to prepare children for school.
While the environment becomes slightly more structured, learning through play remains central. During the year before starting school, we work closely with children and their families to ensure a smooth transition, helping each child feel confident and excited about their next step into “big school.”
Our Outdoor Provision
Each room has its own dedicated outdoor area, carefully designed to complement and extend indoor learning. The outdoor spaces are age-appropriate, safe, and thoughtfully resourced to support children’s development across all areas of learning.
Children are encouraged to free-flow between indoor and outdoor environments at designated times throughout the day. With support from our dedicated practitioners, children explore outdoor equipment, develop physical skills, and engage in imaginative play inspired by their interests.
Forest School
The nursery also benefits from a dedicated Forest School area, designed to inspire a love of the outdoors. Here, children have opportunities to use tools, explore natural materials, make potions, and even cook over an open fire.
Pre-School-aged children from both nurseries have the opportunity to take part in Forest School sessions each term. These sessions are led by practitioners specially trained in Forest School education. Children are introduced to activities and equipment not typically available indoors, learning how to assess risks and participate safely.
Forest School provides rich learning experiences that promote confidence, resilience, problem-solving, and a deep connection with nature, empowering children to explore new environments and challenges with enthusiasm.

Headstart Club House
At Headstart Day Nursery, we’re delighted to provide a friendly and nurturing Out of School Club for children aged up to 11. Our aim is to create a safe, happy space where children can unwind, have fun and enjoy time with friends before and after school, as well as during the holidays.
We offer before‑ and after‑school care for children attending St Anne’s CE Primary School, along with holiday care that’s open to all school‑aged children. No matter when they join us, children are welcomed into a warm, relaxed environment where they can feel comfortable and at home.
During term time, our team walks children to and from St Anne’s. Staff are fully trained in road safety and first aid, and children are always dropped off and collected from within the school grounds, as agreed with the school. We make these transitions calm and reassuring, helping children start and end their school day with confidence.
Inside the Club House, children can choose from a wide range of activities based on their interests — from arts and crafts to board games, construction, imaginative play and more. We also provide cosy areas for anyone who simply wants to relax and “chill out” after a busy day.
We make the most of both indoor and outdoor play (weather permitting), giving children plenty of opportunities to be active, explore and spend time with friends in a supportive environment.
During the holidays, we plan exciting themed days and outings, such as park trips, science days and even Harry Potter‑themed adventures, ensuring every day feels special.
If you’re looking for a fun, caring and safe place for your child, we’d love to show you around. Come and visit our Club House to see what we offer — we look forward to welcoming you.
Huntingtower Club House
Headstart Day Nursery is pleased to provide wraparound care for children attending Huntingtower Community Primary Academy. This provision operates from The Club House at Huntingtower, a dedicated facility located on the school site. Our aim is to deliver a calm, supportive and well‑supervised environment in which children feel secure, content and appropriately cared for before and after the school day.
Our Club House is a warm, safe and caring environment where children can enjoy a wide range of fun, engaging activities. Each day, children are escorted to and from the main school building by our friendly staff, who ensure transitions are calm, supervised and reassuring.
Inside the Club House, children have access to a variety of resources including arts and crafts, board games, imaginative play and activities based on their own interests. We place a strong focus on children’s well‑being, making sure they feel comfortable, settled and able to unwind. Cosy areas are available for those who simply want to relax and “chill out” after a busy school day.
We make the most of both indoor and outdoor play (weather permitting), giving children opportunities to explore, be active and spend time with friends in a supportive environment. They can also use familiar outdoor areas within the school grounds, helping them extend their play and feel confident in their surroundings.
To make their time with us even more special, we plan themed activities linked to festivals, seasons or popular films and interests — adding excitement and variety to their days.
